AP Calculus AB and BC are university-provided college-level calculus courses for high school students. They prepare students to succeed on the Advance Placement Calculus exam offered each spring by The College Board, thereby allowing your students to earn college credit while they are in high school. |

AP Calculus AB is a university provided college-level calculus course for high school students. Students are provided with 53 lessons that prepare them to succeed on the Advanced Placement Calculus AB exam offered each year by The College Board. By taking AP Calculus Online, your students can receive college credit while they are still in high school. |

| What is AP Calculus BC? |

Students with the necessary preparation may enroll in AP Calculus BC, which is also available on the internet. This program is a 78 lesson course that will work in the same manner as AP Calculus AB. Students will have all of the same support services and can take the AP Calculus BC exam offered by The College Board. |

- Students are free to work on the lessons during their regularly scheduled class time or any time that is convenient.
- Tutoring assistants and the instructor are available to answer questions via Toll-Free "800" telephone lines, email and internet Questions and Message Boards.
- General information, additional instructions and responses to frequently asked questions are also found on the AP Calculus Webpage Bulletin Board.
- All of these services are available during the school days as well as evenings when students are doing homework.

| Meet The Instructor |

Dr. Jim Choike received the 2000 Award for Faculty Excellence at OSU. He was awarded the prestigious 1995 Mathematical Association of America Award for Distinguished University or College Teaching of Mathematics (Oklahoma-Arkansas region). In 1995, Dr. Choike was also chosen for an OSU Regents Distinguished Teaching Award.
Dr. Choike served as chair of the National Mathematics Committee for The College Board's EQUITY 2000 school reform project and has often been an AP Reader of Calculus AB ans BC exams. He has been an invited speaker many times at College Board conferences on Advanced Placement Mathematics.
He has instructed mathematics courses for high school students via distance learning technology since 1986. He is determined to offer the highest quality instruction with all the support services students need to succeed and develop confidence in themselves.
Dr. Choike is a Professor of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University. He received his Phd in mathematics from Wayne State University. |

Subject: AP Calculus AB and BC
Instructor: Dr. Jim Choike, Professor of Mathematics, Oklahoma State University.
Course Objective: To achieve college-level knowledge of calculus.
TextBooks: Calculus, Concepts And Contexts, 3rd Edition, by James Stewart, Brooks/Cole Publisher, ISBN 0534410030
Grade For The Course: The AP Calculus Online course will offer a maximum of 1200 points for each student from the four APCOL exams plus the quizzes. OSU will assign to teach students either a P for Pass or N for No Recommendation. Students earning at least 800 points out of the 1200 points available (67% or better) will receive a P and will be encouraged to take the AP Calculus exam administrated by The College Board. The assignmentof letter grades such as A, B, etc. will be the responsibility of the teaching partner at each local school. Grades assigned by the teaching partner may also reflect a student's dedication to learning AP Calculus as well as the number of points he/she has earned on exams and quizzes. |
